The Bennington Badgers will head out to square off against the Norris Titans at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bennington will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Bennington is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Omaha Northwest 23-1 on Monday. The Badgers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.
Jace Fitzgerald made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Fitzgerald was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one triple. That triple was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Hunter Spencer was incredible, going 3-for-6 with eight RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mason Buechler, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.
Bennington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .612. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday Norris sidestepped Gretna for a 4-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Titans in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won four in a row.
Eli Starner looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tanner Klein, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs. Kyson Gana was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Bennington's record is now 20-3. As for Norris, their record now sits at 17-7.
Thursday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bennington has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .453. However, it's not like Norris struggles in that department as they've averaged .435. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
