Soccer Recap: Newton Takes a Loss

Newton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against the Maize Eagles, falling 6-0. While losing is never fun, Newton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas soccer rankings (they are ranked 66th, while Maize are ranked 19th).

Newton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7-1. As for Maize, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newton will host Andover on Tuesday. As for Maize, they will square off against Derby on Tuesday. Derby will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Maize surely won't give up without a fight.
