Baseball Recap: Eagle Valley Triumphs

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Eagle Valley and Steamboat Springs, and Eagle Valley kept the tradition alive. The Devils skirted past the Sailors 8-6. The Devils haven't had any issues with the Sailors recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

James Bivins was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off only one hit. Eagle Valley is 2-1 when Bivins allows one or fewer hits, but 2-6 otherwise. Bivins was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

In other batting news, Xander DeHerrera was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jackson Woodworth, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Eagle Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Eagle Valley's record now sits at 4-7. As for Steamboat Springs, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Sailors beat Eagle Valley by a score of 10-6 later that day.
