Baseball Game Preview: Auburn Rockets vs. Millbury Woolies

The Auburn Rockets will head out on the road to take on the Millbury Woolies at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Auburn is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Auburn lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Northbridge, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's game. The Rockets put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 12-2 win on Wednesday. The Rockets' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Bryce Everson made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Everson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Auburn let Kyle McLaughlin and Cameron McLaughlin run wild. Kyle went 3-for-4 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and one run, while Cameron scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Cameron is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Owen Morrow was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

Auburn was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Millbury hadn't done well against Uxbridge recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Woolies had just enough and edged out the Spartans 5-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Woolies.

Auburn's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. As for Millbury, their record now sits at 2-0.

Auburn came out on top in a nail-biter against Millbury in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rockets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
