Hawkinsville had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Trion Bulldogs on Friday, sneaking past 24-21. Winning may never get old, but the Red Devils sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Hawkinsville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nieem Blair led the charge by rushing for 96 yards and one score. Blair also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making five total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception. Sebastian Clark was another key player, rushing for 59 yards and one TD.

Despite the loss, Trion saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Landon Kimbell picked up 80 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 55 yards and one score.

Hawkinsville's record now sits at 9-2. As for Trion, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Hawkinsville will head out to take on Lincoln County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hawkinsville will need to watch out since Lincoln County has now posted at least 31 points in their last seven contests. Trion does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
