Recap: Deubrook Dolphins vs. Deuel Cardinals
The Deubrook Dolphins's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell to Deuel 59-54. While losing is never fun, Deubrook can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while Deuel is ranked 20th).
When it comes to explaining why Deubrook lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jake Jorenby. Despite the final result, he scored 23 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Landen Johnson, who scored 14 points.
Deubrook's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Deuel, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Deubrook will challenge Oldham-Ramona/R at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Deuel, they will head out on the road to face off against Redfield at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
