Baseball Recap: Durant Cougars vs. Plant City Raiders
Durant stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They beat the Plant City Raiders by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 6-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Durant.
Chase Mobley made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (he also didn't allow any walks). Mobley was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other pitching news, Durant got a great performance from Gehrig Graham as he didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Graham has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single walk in four consecutive pitching appearances.
Back at the plate, Jackson MccClellan was excellent, going 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick April-Gath, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
On Plant City's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin Pellicer, who went 1-for-3 with a stolen base.
Durant is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Plant City, they dropped their record down to 7-10 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Durant will face off against Riverview at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Plant City, they will be playing at home against Leto at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
