Softball Recap: Manteca Comes Up Short

Manteca fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against East Union on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lancers by a score of 6-5. The Buffaloes were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lancers earlier this season, when they won 4-0.

Na'Ima Calderon made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Manteca's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for East Union, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Manteca will venture away from home to take on Patterson at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.2 runs per game on average), something the Buffaloes will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for East Union, they are taking a road trip to face off against Oakdale at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
