Football Recap: Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary Takes a Loss

The Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary Cardinals were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 33-27 to the Kaiser Cats.

Matthew Escobedo threw for 176 yards and two TDs. Miles Galbraith was his top target, picking up 87 receiving yards and one score. On the ground, Vincent Naranjo rushed for 73 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary's loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Kaiser, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.

Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary and Kaiser will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Cardinals see the field they'll take on Salesian at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. As for Kaiser, their break will end when they face Summit at 7:30 p.m. on October 9.
