Basketball Recap: Conneaut Comes Up Short

Conneaut was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They had to suffer through a 60-16 loss at the hands of the Madison Blue Streaks. The match marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Conneaut saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Davonte Harris posted ten points.

Madison had a senior duo take command as Mac Steele went 7 of 12 on his way to 17 points and five steals and Landon Tomco went 7 for 11 en route to 15 points and three steals. Steele is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dakotah Aufdenberg, who earned two points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Conneaut's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Madison, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-5.

Conneaut didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 72-63 defeat against St. John on the 28th. Madison has also already played their next match, a 58-52 win against East on the 28th.
