Football Game Preview: Frederick Golden Eagles vs. Montrose Red Hawks + How To Watch

The Frederick Golden Eagles will challenge the Montrose Red Hawks at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Frederick is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They claimed a resounding 35-7 victory over Bear Creek. The Golden Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by 21 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Sonny Delpizzo, who rushed for 209 yards and three scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Frederick was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 296 rushing yards. They are 7-1 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Frederick's defense and their five sacks. In that department, Landon Olson was the leader with 3.5. Frederick got some further help from Aerik Ross: he picked up a sack and made 12 total tackles.

Meanwhile, Montrose put another one in the bag two weeks ago to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Pueblo West with points to spare, taking the game 23-6. Those 23 points were actually the fewest the Red Hawks have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Montrose's win bumped their record up to 10-0. As for Frederick, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.

Frederick suffered a grim 44-22 defeat to Montrose when the teams last played back in November of 2024. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
