Redbank Valley and Karns City are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Bulldogs will face off against the Gremlins at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Redbank Valley will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Redbank Valley barely beat Keystone the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Panthers on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bulldogs considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Jaxon Huffman made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carson Gould, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylon Wagner, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.
Redbank Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Karns City's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Cranberry Area by a score of 7-6.
Koen Williams was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Mason Sherwin, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Redbank Valley pushed their record up to 10-8 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Karns City, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Redbank Valley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Karns City struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Redbank Valley might still be hurting after the 9-2 loss they got from Karns City in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
