Baseball Recap: Steubenville Big Red vs. Indian Creek Redskins
Steubenville had lost five straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 7-10 to make it six. They fell just short of the Indian Creek Redskins by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Redskins this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-1 last Thursday.
As for Indian Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. Winning may never get old, but they sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
For Indian Creek's part, Ty Householder was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ian Starkey, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Steubenville and Indian Creek could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Big Red will square off against Granville at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (288 vs. 13). Meanwhile, Indian Creek (ranked 82nd) will meet Licking Valley (ranked 17th) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
