Baseball Recap: Chippewa Falls Triumphs

Chippewa Falls proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 12) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Marshfield Tigers 10-8. The win continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won seven in a row.

Chippewa Falls got a great performance from Ryan Dickson as he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Chippewa Falls let Jacob Bleskacek and Gavin Thompson run wild. Bleskacek went 1-for-4 with one home run and five RBI, while Thompson got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those five RBI gave Bleskacek a new career-high. Matthew Scholtz was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Chippewa Falls hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive matchups.

Chippewa Falls' record is now 10-3. As for Marshfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.
