Basketball Recap: Altamont Takes a Loss

Altamont suffered their closest loss since November 20, 2023 on Saturday. They fell just short of the Piute Thunderbirds by a score of 39-37. The Longhorns' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Despite the loss, Altamont saw an underclassman step up: freshman Hazlie Bagley dropped a double-double on 18 points and 23 boards. Those 23 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Bagley.

Even though they lost, Altamont smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive contests.

Altamont's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Piute, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.

Altamont wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 46-22 loss against Tabiona on the 7th. As for Piute, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 52-28 win against Bryce Valley on the 8th.
