Lourdes Academy proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Westminster Christian Warriors. This was payback for Lourdes Academy, who suffered a 3-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (107-103) Lourdes Academy actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 25-21, 25-23, 20-25, 15-13.

Juliette Vazquez-Bello paced Lourdes Academy's offense, picking up ten kills. Vazquez-Bello got some help from Sofia Lagonowicz and her 15 assists. Finally, Lexie Espin kept Lourdes Academy's defense grounded, leading the team with nine blocks.

Lourdes Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Westminster Christian, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.

Coming up, Lourdes Academy will welcome Cardinal Gibbons at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Westminster Christian, they will venture away from home to square off against Marco Island Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
