Soccer Game Preview: Trinity vs. Providence Grove

Trinity is 2-8 against Providence Grove since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Bulldogs are taking a road trip to square off against the Patriots at 6:00 p.m.

Trinity is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Uwharrie Charter Academy, falling 3-0. While losing is never fun, Trinity can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 234th, while Uwharrie Charter Academy are ranked 93rd).

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last contest, Providence Grove made sure to put some goals up on the board against Southwestern Randolph two weeks ago. They blew past the Cougars 10-1. The result was nothing new for Providence Grove, who have now won ten games by four goals or more so far this season.

They hit Southwestern Randolph with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Taryn Waugh (5), Rylee Stover (3), and Sarah Hendricks (2).

Providence Grove is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 40 goals over those seven contests. As for Trinity, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9-1.

Trinity couldn't quite get it done against Providence Grove in their previous matchup back in March as they fell 2-0. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
