Soccer Game Preview: Moberly vs. Boonville

The Moberly Spartans will venture away from home to square off against the Boonville Pirates at 6:40 p.m. on Thursday. Moberly is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.7 goals per game this season.

Moberly is headed into Thursday's contest hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight defeats. They came up short against Hannibal on Tuesday, falling 7-1. Moberly were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 5-1.

Their goal came courtesy of Karlie McGee, who's now up to six this season.

Meanwhile, Boonville beat Smithton 3-1 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for Boonville in their matchups with Smithton: they've now won three in a row.

Moberly's loss dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Boonville, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7-1.

Moberly skirted past Boonville 2-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
