Softball Recap: New Heights Christian Academy Cougars vs. Pittsburg Dragons

New Heights Christian Academy had lost ten straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 2-13 to make it 11. They lost 18-2 to the Pittsburg Dragons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dragons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 23-0 on Saturday.

JADYN DEAN made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

As for Pittsburg, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-1. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won ten matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

On Pittsburg's side, AnnaLynn Hudson made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and not a single walk). Hudson has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Brette Pasteur was incredible, firing off two home runs and seven RBI while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Heather Mowdy, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Looking ahead, New Heights Christian Academy will head out to square off against Field Kindley at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Pittsburg, they will head out on the road to challenge Labette County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
