Basketball Preview: Northeast Vikings vs. Hollins Royals

Northeast is 9-1 against the Royals since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Northeast Vikings will look to defend their home court against the Hollins Royals at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Northeast came into Thursday's match having lost ten straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 42-34 victory over Shorecrest Prep on Thursday. The victory was just what Northeast needed coming off of a 53-19 loss in their prior game.

Even though Hollins has not done well against the Green Devils recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Hollins came out on top against the Green Devils by a score of 38-30. The win was just what Hollins needed coming off of a 49-22 defeat in their prior match.

Hollins' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Summer Morgan led the charge by scoring 11 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds. Morgan is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Cecilia Tith, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.

Northeast's victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-12. As for Hollins, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-16.

Northeast came up short against the Royals when the teams last played last Thursday, falling 30-24. Can Northeast avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
