There's no place like home for Jones, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Southside Seahawks 5-4. This was a revenge game for the Trojans: when they faced off against the Seahawks on Tuesday, they had to take a 6-2 loss.

Payten Plyler was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Riley Murphy was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one run. Kynlee Whaley also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Jones kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

With the victory, Jones broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-8. As for Southside, they moved to 8-8-1 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Jones has already played their next match, a 4-2 loss against Liberty Christian Academy on the 24th. As for Southside, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-2 win against Lejeune on the 28th.
