Baseball Recap: Turner Ashby Extends Winning Streak to Three

Turner Ashby won against Fort Defiance last Thursday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Turner Ashby won by a run and slipped past the Wilson Memorial Green Hornets 7-6. The Knights' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Sammy Moats tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mason Mantz, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Will Knicely was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Turner Ashby's record now sits at 3-0. As for Wilson Memorial, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Turner Ashby will face off against Page County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wilson Memorial, they will take on Alleghany at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
