Basketball Recap: Saint Andrew's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

Saint Andrew lost against St. Thomas Aquinas back in December of 2021 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Scots fell 78-65 to the Raiders. The loss put an end to the Scots' undefeated start to the season.

Defeat or not, Saint Andrew's got some senior leadership from Brendan Gerard and Xander Gerard. Brendan almost dropped a double-double with 25 points and nine assists, while Xander went 10-for-14 on his way to 25 points. Xander's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 24 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Connors, who posted five points and five boards.

St. Thomas Aquinas' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Clarence Westbrook Jr., who shot 56% from the field to rack up 28 points. Westbrook Jr. is on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last five games he's played dating back to last season. Drake (DJ) Sandi was another key player, going 8-for-13 en route to 21 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Saint Andrew's loss dropped their record down to 2-1. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, the victory (which was their 16th in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 2-0.

Coming up, Saint Andrew's will challenge Wellington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, they and Sagemont Prep will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest, having both just played.
