Silverado is 0-5 against Desert Oasis since March of 2017 but things could change on Wednesday. Silverado will face off against Desert Oasis at 3:30 p.m. Silverado has given up an average of 12.8 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Silverado came up short against Shadow Ridge on Tuesday, falling 18-4.
Malia Pacheco made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Yvonne Jimenez was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two runs.
Pacheco wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Silverado lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Desert Oasis). They blew past Sierra Vista 15-4 on Monday. With that victory, the Diamondbacks brought their scoring average up to 7.8 runs per game.
Ali Perkins was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Those hits were her first of the season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Nolly Newbry was a standout: she scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Vida Torres, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
The win made it two in a row for Desert Oasis and bumps their season record up to 2-2-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Silverado, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Silverado hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. However, it's not like Desert Oasis struggles in that department as they've averaged .345. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Silverado couldn't quite get it done against Desert Oasis in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 as they fell 14-11. Can Silverado avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
