If Western was riding high fresh off their 26-6 takedown of Everglades last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Western Wildcats took a 25-7 bruising from the Palmetto Panthers on Monday. The Wildcats' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Brianna Rutecki threw for 64 yards and one touchdown. Tearra Mortimer was her top target, picking up 65 receiving yards.

It was another big night for Ava Alvarez, who threw for 100 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 44 yards for Palmetto.

Western's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Palmetto, they pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Western will welcome Wellington at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Wellington: 0, Western: 8.8) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Palmetto, they will be playing at home against South Dade at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Palmetto's defense has only allowed 5.4 points per game this season, so South Dade's offense will have their work cut out for them.
