Basketball Recap: Cheyenne Drops Highest Score of Season Against Amplus Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cheyenne). They enjoyed a cozy 46-32 victory over the Amplus Academy Archers on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Cheyenne's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elissa Sambo led the charge by dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 steals. That's the most steals Sambo has posted since back in January of 2024. Jackie Soncini was another key player, putting up six points along with 15 boards and six steals.

Cheyenne smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Cheyenne and bumps their season record up to 3-5. As for Amplus Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Cheyenne will head out to square off against Southeast Career Tech at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Amplus Academy, they will take on Eldorado at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
