Basketball Recap: Drew Dodson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Reed

Damonte Ranch won the last time they faced Reed and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Damonte Ranch Mustangs managed a 52-46 victory over the Reed Raiders. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.

Damonte Ranch got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Drew Dodson out in front who went 8 for 16 on his way to 18 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Dodson's evening made it 17 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Jeriah Macias was another key player, going 5 of 11 en route to 13 points and five assists.

Damonte Ranch was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Reed only posted two assists.

When it comes to explaining why Reed lost, don't look at Gabriel Smith. Despite the final result, he went 7 for 9 on his way to 15 points and eight boards. Another player making a difference was Ford Gilliam, who posted eight points.

Damonte Ranch is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. As for Reed, they dropped their record down to 6-13 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Damonte Ranch wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 72-45 victory against Carson on the 24th. Reed has also already played their next contest, a 53-41 defeat against Reno on the 24th.
