Baseball Game Preview: Southern Aroostook Warriors vs. Central Aroostook Panthers

The Southern Aroostook Warriors will venture away from home to face off against the Central Aroostook Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Southern Aroostook is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

Southern Aroostook will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Ashland on Thursday. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 19-5 margin over the Hornets. That looming 19-5 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Warriors yet this season.

Ethan Collier was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Collier was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. Southern Aroostook is 2-1 when Collier posts two or more runs, but 2-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jakoby Porter, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. Dikki Chambers also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Southern Aroostook kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Central Aroostook was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 11-3 to Fort Fairfield.

Central Aroostook's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Southern Aroostook, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Everything went Southern Aroostook's way against Central Aroostook in their previous matchup back in April, as Southern Aroostook made off with an 18-5 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
