Softball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Midlothian

Midlothian got themselves on the board against Monacan on Thursday, but Monacan never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Chiefs with a sharp 6-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Chiefs: they've now won three in a row.

Monacan's batters probably weren't too happy with Marlee Gaskell, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 14 Ks (she gave up zero walks). That's the fewest walks Gaskell has allowed since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Erika Fiege, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Gianna Caranante also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Midlothian's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Monacan, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Midlothian will face off against Turner Ashby at 11:00 a.m. on April 5. As for Monacan, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Patrick Henry at 6:00 p.m. on April 8.
