Softball Recap: Elkin Takes a Loss

Elkin came into this matchup off a tough 11-run defeat last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Mount Airy Granite Bears by a score of 6-4 on Wednesday. The Buckin' Elks' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it five in a row.

Addison Gentry made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Elkin's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Mount Airy, their win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-9.

Coming up, Elkin will square off against Alleghany at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Buckin' Elks are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a 14-game losing streak. As for Mount Airy, they will face off against Starmount at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rams will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Granite Bears surely won't give up without a fight.
