Soccer Game Preview: Travelers Rest vs. Emerald

The Travelers Rest Devildogs will take on the Emerald Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Travelers Rest's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Travelers Rest's offense. They came up short against St. Joseph's Catholic on Tuesday, falling 5-0.

Meanwhile, Emerald gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Clinton a 10-0 shutout. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Red Devils recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Travelers Rest's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Emerald, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.

Travelers Rest beat Emerald by a goal when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 1-0. Will Travelers Rest repeat their success, or does Emerald have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
