Basketball Recap: Melrose Takes a Loss

If Melrose was feeling good fresh off their 86-32 takedown of Elida last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Melrose Buffaloes fell to the Texico Wolverines 79-73. The Buffaloes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolverines apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Melrose's loss dropped their record down to 20-5. As for Texico, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-2 record this season.

Looking ahead, Melrose won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Floyd at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Melrose knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Floyd likes a good challenge. As for Texico, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll challenge Jal at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Texico has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
