Basketball Recap: Bonanza Comes Up Short

Bonanza was the 49-29 winner over Chaparral when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Bonanza Bengals fell just short of the Chaparral Cowboys by a score of 25-22 on Wednesday. The Bengals just can't catch a break and have now endured nine losses in a row.

Chaparral found their leader in freshman Zamariyah Walker, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. Walker has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played.

Bonanza's record now sits at 1-10. As for Chaparral, their victory ended an 11-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-12.

Bonanza won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Southeast Career Tech at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bonanza is facing Southeast Career Tech at the right time seeing as Southeast Career Tech is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Chaparral has already played their next game (against Virgin Valley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
