Baseball Game Preview: Bellaire Eagles vs. Pellston Hornets

The Bellaire Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Pellston Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bellaire has given up an average of 11.7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Bellaire came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against East Jordan, falling 13-4. The Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Bellaire saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aidan Balko, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Balko has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Dawson Dewey was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pellston). They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Forest Area 8-7.

Issac Groff was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2025. Landen Brandt also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Bellaire now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Pellston, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 3-9.

Everything went Bellaire's way against Pellston when the teams last played back in May of 2025, as Bellaire made off with a 15-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
