Softball Game Preview: West Mesquite Wranglers vs. Spruce Timberwolves

West Mesquite has gone a perfect 5-0 against Spruce recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The West Mesquite Wranglers will challenge the Spruce Timberwolves at 4:30 p.m. West Mesquite has given up an average of 7.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

West Mesquite lost 12-4 to Wilson on Monday.

Zoraida Barron made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Jaleah Robinson, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Spruce was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Adams, falling 21-0.

Spruce's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for West Mesquite, they dropped their record down to 9-8 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Everything went West Mesquite's way against Spruce in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as West Mesquite made off with a 23-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Mesquite since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
