Soccer Game Preview: Canisius vs. Lancaster

The Canisius Crusaders will challenge the Lancaster Legends at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Canisius is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.

If Lancaster heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Canisius took over last week. The Crusaders came out on top against Aquinas Institute by a score of 4-2 on Thursday. Given Canisius' advantage in MaxPreps' New York soccer rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while Aquinas Institute are ranked 181st) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Canisius hit Aquinas Institute with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Carter Amodeo, Gabriele Pili, Noah Cosgrove, and Austin Xiao.

Meanwhile, Lancaster's game on Wednesday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell 2-0 to Clarence. That's two games in a row now that Lancaster have lost by exactly two goals.

This is the second loss in a row for Lancaster and nudges their season record down to 5-4. As for Canisius, their win bumped their record up to 6-1-1.

Canisius beat Lancaster 2-0 in their previous matchup back in September of 2023. Will the Crusaders repeat their success, or do the Legends have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
