Softball Recap: Signal Mountain Eagles vs. Whitwell Tigers
Sadly, Signal Mountain is still looking for their first win of the season after six contests. They fell victim to a tough 16-3 loss at the hands of the Whitwell Tigers on Monday. One positive for Signal Mountain, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Signal Mountain saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sianna Reagan, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
On Whitwell's side, Kailee Yarber was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Yarber has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in seven consecutive pitching appearances. Yarber was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Whitwell got a massive performance out of Jasie Willis, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Mallory O'Neal, who went 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBI, and a run.
Signal Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Whitwell, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-9.
