Soccer Game Preview: Lutheran vs. Palmer Ridge

The Lutheran Lions will head out to take on the Palmer Ridge Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lutheran is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.7 goals per game this season.

Lutheran is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Cheyenne Mountain just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They and the Red-Tailed Hawks finished up their match with a 1-1 draw. The result kept Lutheran happy, as they haven't lost a game since April 8th.

Their goal came courtesy of Abby Megill, who's now up to nine this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Palmer Ridge). They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Discovery Canyon on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for Palmer Ridge, who have now won five games by four goals or more so far this season.

The win made it two in a row for Palmer Ridge and bumps their season record up to 7-1-2. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those two contests. With that draw, Lutheran's record moves to 8-2-1.

Lutheran was able to grind out a solid win over Palmer Ridge when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
