Baseball Game Preview: Monsignor Scanlan Crusaders vs. Lehman Lions

The Monsignor Scanlan Crusaders will face off against the Lehman Lions at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Monsignor Scanlan is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Thursday. They came out on top against DeWitt Clinton by a score of 6-2.

Jose Jacob Luyando made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Luyando was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Adrian Raposo was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ernesto German, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Lehman put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over Bathgate. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lions have posted since April 22, 2025.

Monsignor Scanlan came up short against Lehman in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, falling 4-0. Can the Crusaders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
