Basketball Recap: Fort Lupton's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Fort Lupton needed a changed in momentum after dropping seven straight games and they got it from Marely Gomez. The Fort Lupton Bluedevils took down the Alameda Pirates 53-37 on Friday thanks in part to Gomez, who went 7 for 11 on her way to 18 points and eight steals. She has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Serenity Gallegos, who posted four points and 15 rebounds. Those 15 rebounds gave her a new career-high.

Alameda's loss came despite strong showings from Claire To and Brianna Garcia. To put up 12 points, while Garcia had 11 points. Cerenity Garcia was another key player, putting up six points.

Fort Lupton's win bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Alameda, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Fort Lupton will host Prospect Ridge Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Lupton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Alameda, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 39-31 loss against Conifer on the 11th.
