League recap: West Mesquite stuns Creekview in upset

4A Region II District 10 recap October 1, 2013

The biggest upset of the week belonged to West Mesquite, who defeated 253rd ranked Creekview, 13-0.

Adding to the longest winning streak in 4A Region II District 10 this week, Poteet beat Newman Smith 54-0. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Pirates.

Jamal Jones was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Mustangs fell to the Wranglers. He.

Lane Novy threw for 244 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was 16-26 with 1 interception.

Brooks Burgin provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Highland Park defeated Forney. He completed 16 passes for 296 yards and also ran for 68 yards. Burgin's favorite target this week was Kevin Ken, who caught 2 passes for 79 yards.

Novy put up the best numbers through the air as Poteet defeated the Trojans. Novy's favorite target this week was Lajarian Poole, who caught 6 passes for 135 yards.

The Scots are currently in second, while North Forney is in third.

The Falcons scaled the state rankings by moving to 386 from 422 this week, the biggest jump in the league. North Forney climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Terrell 27-12.
