Basketball Recap: Martinsville Comes Up Short

Martinsville was the 80-39 winner over Kennard when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Martinsville Pirates opened the new year with a less-than-successful 60-48 defeat to the Kennard Tigers. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Martinsville's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 11-11. As for Kennard, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Martinsville will host Broaddus at 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kennard, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Wells at 8:00 p.m. Kennard will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
