Baseball Game Preview: Ballston Spa Scotties vs. Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Spartans

For the second straight game, Ballston Spa will face off against Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake. The Scotties are taking a road trip to challenge the Spartans at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ballston Spa has six straight victories, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Ballston Spa had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake on Thursday. The Scotties blew past the Spartans 10-3. With that win, the Scotties brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.

Adam Nagengast looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, Doug Chamberlain and James Haughton did most of the damage at the plate: Chamberlain went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Haughton went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That home run was Chamberlain's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of David Wallace Jr., who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.

Ballston Spa's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
