Baseball Recap: Wise Comes Up Short

Wise extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping them down to 5-11. They came up short against the Flowers Jaguars, falling 17-4. The Pumas were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Jaguars earlier this season, when they won 22-12.

Wise saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daron Williams, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. Kian Lee was another, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with two stolen bases.

As for Flowers, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-15. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games.

On Flowers' side, Marcus Richardson was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Richardson a new career-high. Elijah Williams also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Wise wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 12-2 loss against Bowie on the 30th. As for Flowers, they have also already played their next matchup, a 19-2 defeat against Laurel on the 1st.
