Volleyball Recap: Valdez Falls Short Against Ranked Service

Valdez faced Service in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Buccaneers took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Buccaneers of the 2-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

While Valdez was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-7.

This is the second loss in a row for Valdez and nudges their season record down to 36-9. As for Service, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-9-3 record this season.

Valdez has already played their next matchup, a 1-1 tie against Palmer on the 24th. As for Service, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Ketchikan on the 24th.
