Preview: Tarboro Vikings vs. Rocky Mount Prep Jaguars

Tarboro is 9-0 against Rocky Mount Prep since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Tarboro Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Rocky Mount Prep Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. Tarboro will be strutting in after a victory while Rocky Mount Prep will be coming in after a defeat.
Tarboro's four-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on December 1st. They walked away with a 37-29 victory over Northeast Academy For Aerospace and Advanced Tech. The victory was just what Tarboro needed coming off of a 79-30 loss in their prior game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tarboro to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ajennah Mcneil, who scored ten points. Aleya Whitfield was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 71-15, which was the final score in Rocky Mount Prep's tilt against North Edgecombe on Friday. While losing is never fun, Rocky Mount Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 516th, while North Edgecombe is ranked 216th).
The win got Tarboro back to even at 1-1. As for Rocky Mount Prep, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Tarboro strolled past Rocky Mount Prep in their previous meeting back in January of 2019 by a score of 42-24. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tarboro since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
