Volleyball Recap: Menendez Falls Despite Big Games from Alex Fischer and Leo Villar

Menendez lost against St. Augustine back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Menendez Falcons lost 3-0 to the St. Augustine Yellow Jackets.

Menendez was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made St. Augustine work for it, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-18, 25-16.

Menendez's loss came despite strong showings from Leo Villar and Alex Fischer. Villar had ten digs, while Fischer had 17 assists. Those ten digs gave Villar a new career-high.

Menendez dropped their record down to 0-2 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for St. Augustine, their victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Menendez will host Creekside at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Augustine, they will face off against Horizon at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
