Preview: Aynor Blue Jackets vs. Loris Lions
Aynor is 0-10 against Loris since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Aynor Blue Jackets will head out on the road to challenge the Loris Lions at 7:30 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Aynor has struggled recently with ten losses in a row, while Loris will arrive with seven straight wins.
Aynor suffered their biggest loss since December 16, 2023 on Friday. They were dealt a 68-39 loss at the hands of Georgetown. Aynor has not had much luck with Georgetown recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite their loss, Aynor saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jamarion Mitchel, who scored nine points along with three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Robinson Mendez, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Loris didn't have too much trouble with Waccamaw at home on Monday as they won 52-37. Given Loris' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while Waccamaw is ranked 200th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Aynor has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for Loris, they pushed their record up to 14-5 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Aynor might still be hurting after the 66-45 defeat they got from Loris when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Aynor avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
