League recap: Emmons breaks off league-leading run for Central Montcalm

Central Montcalm's Lucas Emmons recorded the longest rushing play in Central State this season in his game against Holton last week. Emmons scampered for 97 yards on the play and finished with 241 on the day as his team beat the Red Devils.

Reed City extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Lakeview, 21-14. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.

Chippewa Hills's dynamic duo of Jake Tarbell and Trent Karcher proved tough for Big Rapids to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Tarbell threw for 272 yards and two touchdowns and Karcher had 182 yards receiving. Peter Lewandowski helped Chippewa Hills' passing attack out by catching seven balls for 59 yards.

Jesse Judge made the biggest impact on defense this week as Central Montcalm bested Holton. The 6-foot-4 senior grabbed 1.5 sacks.

The Warriors' Tarbell and Karcher have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Tarbell has thrown for 806 yards this season, while Karcher has 29 catches for 679 yards. Keagan James from Marty James's team leads the league in rushing with 683 yards.

A big matchup in Central State this week will be when Reed City takes on Chippewa Hills. Monty Price's team is in first place, while Larry Jose's team is in fifth place.

The Cardinals moved up to 197 from 256 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 29-27 win over the Warriors helped Big Rapids improve its standing.
