Montebello will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against San Gabriel on Monday. Everything went Montebello's way against San Gabriel as Montebello made off with a 28-0 win. The Oilers not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 19, 2024.
Ben Richards made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-1. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).
In other pitching news, Isaac Solorzano looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

Back at the plate, Montebello got a massive performance out of Aaron Vallejo, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with five runs, seven RBI, and two stolen bases. Those seven RBI gave Vallejo a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Cervantes, who scored five runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all six of his plate appearances.
Montebello always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .771. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Mark Keppel's offense. They came up short against Bell Gardens on Monday, falling 10-0. The Aztecs' loss continues a trend for the team, making it five in a row.
With the victory, Montebello broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-3. As for Mark Keppel, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
Montebello took their win against Mark Keppel in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 21-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Montebello since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
